Animal Names.

Just a post to get us started. Share your animals names and why they were named that. Our dog is bear because our youngest at the time looked at him and said "his name is Bear" so that was that.

He's a sweetie and very cuddly so his name fits.

I couldn't come up with a name for Sammi, so I looked online for names and accidently came across the name of a chinese singer, Sammi. I liked the way it sounded.

Berry when we rescued him his name was Bear, my wife started calling him Berry because bear sounded too macho. Berry is quite a character when he wakes up in the morning he yawns and it sounds like GOOOOORF. Not sure how it happened but we started calling him Bubba and then Bubba gump.

Patsy was named after Patsy Cline(singer)
Charlie was named that because it sounded so friendly and warm. His original name was Bruno. He definitely isn't a Bruno.
Sammy aka SAM MEW EL nice generic name. Originally was named Isabel(thought he was a girl.) oooooopppss
Binkie Bunny just had a natural rhythm to it. Always makes me think of a pacifier.
Bonnie was named that instead of Bella. Just had to have "Blue" as a middle name.

LOL My sons name is Samuel lol.

Fell in love with the name forever ago after I had my first girl. He's my fourth child and first boy so I had to wait a loooong time.

I named Pepe Pepe cause he reminded me of Pepe La Pu He is such a ladys man and I named Thia Thia cause she has always been bossy just like my Annt and Winnie looked like a brown bear when she was born so she is named after Winnie the Poo and Jose my husband named him that I dont know why he just said his name is Jose

Kirby got his name because he gobbles his food like a vacuum....we didn't like Hoover, and Dirt Devil just didn't seem right, so Kirby it is.
Simba was adopted from a rescue and came with his name. I affectionately call him Fat Cat or Mr. Fat...he doesn't seem to mind.
Piglet has her name because I honestly wasn't feeling very creative, and I like Winnie The Pooh.
Reese is the colours of a peanut butter cup....my mom thought Buttercup would be cute, but seemed too "floofy" to me, so Reese it was.

I also went through a siamese fighter fish phase, had 6 or 7 of them at one point. They were all named after greek gods. Why? I was on a kick of playing God of War on PS2....

lol good names all of them.

Jonas got his name because I was searching for a name that "fit" him

Meisuu is Japanese for Destiny or "Kismet" which is the name of my kennel

Abby is actually Abigail Sciuto from NCIS because Abby's gothic and the dog
is black and about as ditzy yet smart, as Abby is on the show. It fit.

Jethro is actually Leroy Jethro Gibbs from NCIS because Abby and Gibbs
need to get together and Jethro is my new stud for Abby.. perfection.

Norbert (Cat) is named after Hagrad's dragon in Harry Potter, Nicodemus
was named such because she was calico and it was an N name, Natasha
because she's a priss and it was an N name, and Bandit because she used
to peek over the enclosure she was in and had a white mask over her tabby
grey colors so hubby named her... NOT an N name though all four of them
were from the same litter.

Penelope (cat) is a rescue cat (also a calico) and we kept the name she had
when we got her.

Bugsy Malone was a rescue pug and was already named that when we got him.

Let's see...
Boss, aka Chicken, Wuss boy (DH's nicknames for him. lol Can't list the other two.:-) ) was named Boss because he was so huge, when DH brought him home, I said he was gonna be boss. His name used to be Riggs before i got him, just didn't fit.

Rosco the Boxer, named him after rosco off of Duke's of Hazard. Love that guy. reg. name Boxet's Secret Tribute To Kirby.

DH named Sadie, have no clue. Her reg. name is Boxet's Sexy Sadie.

Skye, she's just soft and sweet, reminds me of a nice, blue, summer sky.

Jewels, already named when we got her, never changed it.

Rosie, aka Rosie Posie, rose, Fat girl, old lady. Mom named her when she got her, not sure why she named her that, can't remember.

Well my bostin is lil man cuz he was the runt of the litter and was so small, the bug is lil squish because sher face is all squished up like she ran into a car. Carmin the lab my daughter named after what i have no idea lol, I just need a name for our new bug lil squishys sister> i have no idea what to name her. Was thinking maybe puddin?lol

Shammy the Poochon got her name because my daughter thought her coat looked a little like champagne. Then we shortened it to make it cute. Then she got pregnant and we called her Shamu. Then she had babies and we called her Shamamma.
My son (7 yrs. old at the time) named his cute little white powder puff poodle "Dogzilla". lol! so doesn't fit, but makes him feel better about loving a white powder puff. We have to keep his coat short and in a mohawk too! We call him zilla and ziwe for short.
My husband named his chihuahua/whatever mix pound puppy "Baby Zeus" because he is the "miniature son of a god". Whatever, we treat him like a second class citizen anyway, didn't work! The poodles rule the roost.
My little poodle is Cassie. Just because she is.
My daughter named her female long hair chihuahua "chi chi". We didn't know that meant boobs in spanish! Now everybody gives us silly looks on our walks...living in Albuquerque and being Mexican, you'd think we would have known better!

Molly was named after the song "Good golly miss Molly"
Mickey came with his name but he is so tiny (like a mouse) it fits

My first is Makena Elizabeth. When we got her I still wanted another baby and a girl. Her name was going to be either Makena Elizabeth or Elizabeth Makena. When my husband got fixed and we got a dog Makena was the winner.

My second is Dewey Michael. He is my husbands dog. He is mean and bites weh he is pissy. He got his name from the Donald Duck cartoon plus he just looked like a dopey dog and Dewey fit him perfectly.

Then came Mia Rene. She was named by her breeder. It was love at first sight with her and i could not change her name. Her full AKC name is Brenlars Mommas Mia of Owasso. Brenlar is the Kennel name where I bought her. Mommas Mia is self explanatory as I am her Momma and Owasso is the name of the City in Oklahoma where we flew to pick her up.

While in Oklahoma picking up Mia another little black dog kept getting in all the pictures. She is mostly black with some brindle and white mittens on her paws. Hence the name Mittens Monet. Her AKC name is Brenlars Mittens Monet of Owasso. She is my one kidney wonder and lives the life of a Diva.

After Mittens was diagnosised with one kidney I still wanted a show dog. I found Tucker from a local breeder. I am crazy about the movie Something about Mary and Tucker is my favorite character, thus Tucker Benjamin.

When I decided I was getting a Bull Terrier we traveled to Kentucky to get this little Gem. Her name came to me one day out of no where. Kali as in California I tell everyone. Her middle name is Marie after my daughter.

Mia;s two puppies are named Meg and Zoey. I had orginally planned to name them with names from the Something about Mary movie but after they were born they just looked like a Meg and a Zoey. I call them Meggy Moo and Zoe Zoe and they know their names at 7 weeks of age.

So thats my story and I am sticking to it.

Oh Yes I love Frenchies and every other four legged creature!!!! I am an ecletic animal owner. I forgot to mention the two birds also. An African grey named Hoss from Bonanza and A Goffen Cockatoo named Gordy. I married into them!!!
